Postage depends on size and place, we all try to use prepaid satchels whenever possible - postage starts at $5 for a small flat items and $10 for a small light satchel, $15 medium and $20 large. Arnica Infused Essential Oil

Arnica acts as an anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antimicrobial aid. Its anti-inflammatory activity may explain why arnica reduces swelling time in injuries, and also quickly reduces bruising. This same activity makes arnica useful for irritated insect bites. Arnica’s anti-inflammatory activity activity is probably due to a number of agents, including a compound known as helenalin. Arnica’s analgesic properties make arnica preparations valuable for relieving the pain of sprains, bruises and other injuries. The antimicrobial properties of arnica make it useful for minor skin irritations where infection is possible.

Not to be confused with Marigold, Calendula has great anti-inflammatory properties and vulnerary properties, making it excellent for help with stubborn wounds, ulcers, bed sores, varicose veins, bruises, rashes, eczema etc. This oil is great to help with sore, inflamed and itchy skin conditions, also for burns, eczema and nappy rash, as well as sore cracked nipples. It is also used to treat thread and spider veins as well as varicose veins. Calendula has great healing, soothing and softening qualities which makes it a good choice to include when mixing a massage oil or preparing a carrier oil blend.

This essential oil can be used with great effect on children when they feel irritable, impatient, teething or colicky. Women find it great to relieve PMS. In general it is good for abdominal pain, gall bladder problems, as well as for throat infections. it furthermore helps to relieve allergies, hay fever and asthma.

For the skin, it can be used to calm acne, eczema, rashes, wounds, dermatitis, dry and itchy skin and other allergic conditions in general.

Pennyroyal Essential Oil

Pennyroyal essential oil, Mentha pulegium, is steam distilled from the leaves, the scent is a combination of minty and earthy. It is useful as an insect repellent. Used for phlegm, respiratory disorders, jaundice, nausea, ulcers, consumption, dropsy, toothache, leprosy, whooping cough, convulsions, sores in the mouth, colic, snakebites, expel after-birth, sore gums, fainting, fever, and gout. Purifies the blood, relieves gas and stomach pain, stimulates uterine contractions. Oil used externally for rheumatism and insect repellent. Its action is carminative, diaphoretic, stimulant and emmenagogic, and is principally employed for the last-named property in disorders caused by sudden chill or cold. It is also beneficial in cases of spasms, hysteria, flatulence and sickness, being very warming and grateful to the stomach.

Cautions - Pennyroyal essential oil is an oral toxin - NEVER take this oil internally as it is dangerous! To take pennyroyal oil internally to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is very dangerous and in a few cases has resulted in death. There is possible fetal damage from the use of pennyroyal in any form during pregnancy. May cause severe kidney/liver damage used in excess of 2 ounces. Do not be use during pregnancy, it is a uterine stimulant. Use only with medical supervision.

Camphor Essential Oil

The therapeutic properties of camphor oil are analgesic, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, cardiac, carminative, diuretic, febrifuge, hypertensive, insecticide, laxative, rubefacient, stimulant, sudorific, vermifuge and vulnerary.

Camphor oil is a balancing oil, it can sedate the nerves and uplift apathy. It can help with feeling cold and reduces inflammation. It is used with great effect to repel insects such as flies and moths.

It also has a positive effect in colds and flu, infectious diseases, bronchitis, coughs, and can assist with muscular pains, rheumatism, sprains, arthritis etc.

Camphor oil is a powerful oil and should be used with care. It is not really used in aromatherapy as it is classed as a convulsant and neurotoxin.

Cedarwood (Atlas) Essential Oil

Cedarwood oil has a rich, honey colour and a warm, woody, sweet smell that appeals to both sexes. The oil is extracted from wood waste - sawdust, chips and shavings - by the process of steam distillation. Cedarwood oil has been in use for many centuries. The ancient Egyptians used it in cosmetics and in the process of mummification. It is also used in incense.

Nowadays, it is used commercially for its fragrance in a variety of household products and also in the manufacture of cosmetics and toiletries, in particular aftershaves.

Aromatherapists use Cedarwood oil for the treatment of respiratory ailments. It has antiseptic properties, and is effective against coughs, bronchitis and catarrh. Its use in skin and hair care is well recognized, and it can be very beneficial in the treatment of dandruff, eczema and acne.

As an ingredient in a blend to perfume a room, cedarwood oil is warm and pleasant. The Oil is particularly useful in treating stress and tension.

Basil Essential Oil

Black Pepper Essential Oil

This warming oil can be used to great effect to help circulation and bruising and specifically to help with muscle tone, aching limbs and rheumatoid arthritis. It further helps to promote digestion, the colon as well as the kidneys.

Burners and vaporizers - In vapor therapy, black pepper oil can be used to help add warmth to chills and colds and to create an atmosphere of 'getting things done'.

Juniper Berry Essential Oil

Juniper Berries (Juniperus Communis) have been traditionally used as a diuretic, stomachic, and carminative. Applied externally, the oil is a local stimulant.

Juniper is an evergreen shrub or tree up to 6m high with bluish-green stiff needles. It has small flowers and berries that are green in the first year, black in second and third. Essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the berries. Although these valuable berries are produced from a native shrub, the berries used in commerce are chiefly collected from cultivated plants. Sunny slopes are likely to be the best places to cultivate the shrub for the berries.

Properties: Antiseptic, antitoxic, astringent, depurative, emmenagogue, nervine, parasiticide, sedative, tonic, vulmerary.

Historical Uses: Used medicinally for urinary infections, for respiratory problems as well as gastro-intestinal infections. It helps expel the build-up of uric acid in the joints and is employed in gout, rheumatism and arthritis

There has been recent research in India which shows that lemongrass acts as sedative on the central nervous system. Star Anise Essential Oil

Therapeutically, star anise is a sedative oil and is valued for its soothing, relaxing properties. It is a useful oil to use in massage or vaporizers to achieve a comforting sense of calm.

Star anise is particularly beneficial to the digestive system, for the relief of distressing symptoms such as hiccups, flatulence, stomach cramping, colic and indigestion. It can be used in massage blends for this purpose and massaged gently over the stomach and abdomen. In steam inhalation, star anise oil is an effective expectorant so helps clear excess mucus from the airways, and also does much to soothe coughs and colds.

In general massage or in compresses the oil will relieve muscle cramping and can also be used to treat joint and muscle stiffness and aches and pains. It is not recommended, however, for bathing.

Sweet Fennel Essential Oil

Fennel oil is extracted by steam distillation from the seeds of the plant. It is very strong in odour, and in colour is clear with a slightly yellow tinge. It has bactericidal properties and is an ingredient in some toothpastes and mouthwashes, as it combats some of the bacteria that cause tooth decay.

Its antibacterial, laxative and carminative properties have made it popular with the pharmaceutical industry where it is used extensively. It is also an ingredient in some perfumed products.

Used in massage, particularly over the lower abdomen and back, fennel oil will soothe a nervous indigestion or irritated bowel. Flatulence and bloating can also be helped with gentle massage. Its mild diuretic action can also help with excessive fluid retention. Fennel has an effect similar to that of the hormone oestrogen - this is why it is used to stimulate lactation and increase milk production - and it is not suitable for use during pregnancy.

Because of its strong odour, you may well find that fennel does not make a pleasing blend with other oils, and it's use tends to be more therapeutic than sensual. Always dilute it well as it is strong and can irritate the skin - a 1,1/2 per cent dilution is quite sufficient.
