CHANGES
Fifteen or so years ago when we started direct selling with our mail order
catalogues - it was very hard to find the witchy goth type of items we made -
there were only one or two shops in each state. Then a bit later the
introduction of online selling exposed us to a much wider audience. Go back
seven or so years and we were in the midst of a witchy goth boom - and our
specialty became to offer the widest variety of goodies along our particular
themes. Now however the internet is swamped with lots of similar products - and
the emphasis has moved from selling to "community" - we've done that withour Magickal Moments newsletter - I feel it is now time to do that with the website.
I was originally toying with
the idea of setting up a different website like Uncle Festers selling other
peoples goodies - but realized there would be be more synergy to make the main
Uncle Festers site itself an "Open Market" place. Everything is already there and I have thousands of loyal customers dying to see what you offer.
The concept being rather than list lots more commercial products - we
present instead all the wonderful products and services other pagans and
friendlies have out there - sort of like a Specialty Ebay for witches and Goths
but where we do the listings and sellings, collect payments, marketing etc - and
you/they just have to worry about the physical making and sending out.
I'm currently rearranging the website like a big pagan market
with different 'stalls" - and pagan practitioner profiles - and am ready now to hear from those interested in participating. . . . BACKGROUND Uncle Festers was started 17 years ago by Margaret and Hayden, who still run the business.
Margaret has a lot of "fire energy" and loves nothing better than coming up with new ideas and presenting you with new products. She feels particularly clever with her new Astrolenergies concept, and all our regular clubs - the latest of which is the popular Apothecary club. Other original concepts are the Lucky Charm Lucky Dips and the Mini Tarot Readings. Margaret also writes the daily eNewsletters "Magical Moments" that have become an important part of many peoples daily routines (see sign up box at left).
Hayden on the other hand has predominatly "water energies", he is the "artsy" hands on one. He has designed and hand makes most of the jewellery pieces we offer, as well as the wands, staffs, daggers, club folders etc. And as a perfectionist - all are to a quality much higher than you would expect for our prices. You can find him in his shed most days tinkering around, just don't expect him to email or do anything technological on the computer (he is much better in the kitchen . . . )
Together we thus make a great pair for this business - things here are never boring - though as we both lack any "earth energies" our record keeping systems are scrappy; things might not always get done as quickly or efficiently as they could; and we are still waiting to make our fortune . . . . .
